What is the Seedance 2.0 API?

The Seedance 2.0 API gives you ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 through a single MakerNice endpoint. It sits below Seedance 2.5 in duration (15 seconds versus 30) and reference count (9 versus 16), and its resolution choice is 720p or 1080p, where 2.5 ranges from 480p to 4K. Aspect ratios include 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 1:1 and 21:9 for most modes.

4 ways to generate, one endpoint

Set mode, send the inputs it needs — that's it.

Text to video

mode: "t2v" · prompt

Just a prompt — the model builds the shot from scratch.

Image to video

mode: "i2v" · image_url

Send an image in image_url and it becomes the opening frame.

First and last frame

mode: "flf" · image_url + last_image_url

Set the first and last frame; the model animates everything in between.

Reference to video

mode: "r2v" · reference_images (≤ 9)

Add up to 9 reference images to lock in characters, products and style.

curl https://api.makernice.com/v1/generations/quote \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $MAKERNICE_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "seedance-2.0",

Invalid request

400 invalid_request names each failing field. Fields the mode doesn't use are rejected too. Nothing is held.

Key or balance

401 means a missing or invalid key; 402 means the balance or the key's spend limit isn't enough.

Quote problems

A changed price-affecting field returns 422 quote_mismatch; an expired quote 410; a used one 409. Get a new quote.

Failed generation

A failed generation is never charged — the hold is released in full. Keep the generation id and retry when you're ready.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this model.

What is Seedance 2.0?
Seedance 2.0 is an AI video generation model from ByteDance, available through the MakerNice API with one key and one prepaid balance. The all-rounder for ads and social: 4–15 second clips at 720p or 1080p from text, a still, first and last frames, or up to 9 references.
How long can Seedance 2.0 videos be?
Between 4 and 15 seconds per request, with 5 seconds as the default. You're billed for the duration you request.
How many reference images does Seedance 2.0 support?
Up to 9 reference images, sent in reference_images in reference to video mode.
How much does Seedance 2.0 cost per second?
Seedance 2.0 is billed per second of the duration you request, and the per-second rate depends on the settings you choose; every combination is listed in the price table on this page. Call POST /v1/generations/quote to get the exact amount before you run it. Failed runs are never charged.
Seedance 2.0 vs Seedance 2.5: which should I use?
Seedance 2.0 is enough for 4–15 second clips at 720p or 1080p with up to 9 reference images. Move to Seedance 2.5 when you need up to 30 seconds, 480p or 4K, or up to 16 reference images. Both share the same modes and request shape.

Yes. Set resolution to 720p or 1080p; 720p is the default. For 480p or 4K, use Seedance 2.5.
What is the difference between Seedance 2.0 and 2.0 Fast?
They expose the same modes, durations and reference limits. Seedance 2.0 also lets you choose 720p or 1080p; Fast has no resolution parameter and is priced at the 720p tier. Fast is the speed-oriented variant, and you can compare the two on the same prompt in the Playground.
